Again one of the famous & favourite dish among many people of Bangalore, Mysore & Mangalore.
Most functions or festivals wouldn't be complete without this dish!!!
Also could be prepared using as many kinds of veggies & greens!!
Ingredients:
Curd/Buttermilk - 2 cups
Channa Dal - 1 tbsp (soaked in water for 30 mins)
Green chillies - 5
Fresh coconut Gratings - 2 tbsps
Turmeric - 1 tsp
Jeera - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Fresh coriander - 2 tbsps
Salt to taste
Curry leaves - 1 tbsp
Dry Red chilli - 2
Veggies or greens of your choice - 1 cup
Method:
Cook the veggies or greens & keep aside. In a mixie jar add the soaked Channa Dal, green chillies, fresh coconut, coriander, Turmeric, Jeera & grind to a smooth paste.
Pour this ground masala to a vessel, a cup of water & salt & let it come to a boil. Now add the cooked veggies or greens & Curd & mix well. Make sure not to boil for a longer time after adding the Curd. Remove from heat, add a tadka by heating oil, add mustard, curry leaves & dried red chillies.
Serve with white rice & deep fried salted chillies (balaka) to accompany it.
Note: Veggies that go well with this are Ash Gourd (Boodha Kumbalakayi), Ladies Finger (Bendekayi), Cucumber (Southekayi), Ridge Gourd (Heerekayi), Capsicum (Donne Menasinakayi), Greens (Dhantina/Harive soppu) etc.,
